Console

This section will teach you to control the HelenOS console. Normally the system boots into a graphical desktop. If a graphical mode is not available or the window system is disabled, the system will boot into the console. The console can run either in graphical mode or in text mode (e.g. EGA text mode, serial VT100-like console).

Switching virtual consoles

Press the F1-F11 keys to switch between individual virtual consoles. On a debug/developer build pressing F12 will take you to the kernel console.

Switching keyboard layouts

You can switch keyboard layouts with Ctrl-Shift-Fn strokes as follows:
